Schedule What If
Compare employed NP and physician schedules, access and financial impact.
Employed workforce assumptions
FTE values may include partial appointments.
Revenue cycle and operating costs
Optional assumptions apply to both the plan and its comparison. Defaults preserve the original model.
Collection realization adjusts the net revenue estimate. Keep it at 100% if your net revenue already reflects actual collections. Variable cost applies to all completed visits. Other operating cost is allocated equally by month.
Optional locum coverage
Use only if you plan to purchase temporary coverage. Employed personnel are modeled in the main plan.

How to read this model
Annual visits per FTE are the baseline capacity after leave and CME. The 12 month time lost input only adjusts the relative productivity of reduced schedule staff.
Surplus in one month cannot offset another month. Visits beyond employed staff capacity remain unserved unless optional locum coverage is enabled. Revenue is based on completed visits.
Positive financial change means improvement in revenue less cost. It does not necessarily mean the service operates at a surplus. This model includes only the costs entered here.
FTE is a staffing equivalent, not a headcount. Fractional scenario changes must remain within each role total.
Monthly demand and visit value
Enter visit targets directly or leave them blank to use the demand formula. Enter monthly net visit values or use the global value.
| Month | Clinic days | Busyness index | Summer | Visit override | Expected visits | Net $ per visit | Extra net revenue $ |
|---|
Direct visit targets replace the demand formula, including summer and demand adjustments, for that month. Extra net revenue is independent of visit volume and is adjusted by collection realization. It is included in both the plan and baseline.
What if
Each alternative changes one assumption from your plan. Its comparison uses all 12 month staff under the same demand and cost assumptions. Summer scenarios change your summer setting by the stated percentage points.
| Scenario | NP 10 month | Physician 10 month | NP 11 month | Physician 11 month | Personnel cost | Locum cost | Revenue produced | Revenue less cost | Change versus all 12 month | Months short | Unmet visits |
|---|
Unmet visits are gaps in employed staff capacity. Optional locum coverage can reduce visits still unserved. Infeasible staffing alternatives are identified and excluded from financial calculation.
Month by month
Monthly financial impact and service capacity for your plan.
| Month | Expected visits | Plan capacity | Surplus or gap | Personnel cost | Revenue produced | Locum cost | Other cost | Revenue less cost | Change versus all 12 month |
|---|
Calculation notes and verification
Capacity uses clinic day weighting across all twelve months. Demand uses annual FTE productivity, busyness and summer adjustments, unless a direct monthly target is entered. Busyness is not automatically normalized.
Personnel cost includes salary while working and the specified share of fringe during months off. Locum cost uses fractional days without rounding up. Unmet visits, capacity, financial totals and comparisons use full precision before display rounding.
Other cost includes variable cost per completed visit and one twelfth of annual other operating cost. Revenue less cost deducts personnel, locum and other cost. Collection realization applies to visit revenue and extra net revenue.
Baseline staffing always uses all 12 month FTE while holding the same demand, monthly overrides, visit values and other assumptions. Short months use a gap greater than 0.5 visits. All money is in dollars.
